Conventions of a short film - Style and genre

Styles and Genre

Style and genre among short films varies depending on the choice of themes and story types that the film is meant to tackle. Common genres include thrillers like 'Gravity' and Romantic comedies such as 'Veronique.'

Rom-Coms are usually done in a style that is not a real representation of Britain and is often done in a highly glossy style through use of techniques such as high key lighting. Thrillers on the other hand are done in a much more gritty style and the choice of location is a key factor in giving the movie a realistic feel.

In our movie we could combine the different genres and we could allow our movie to posses features from both Rom-Coms and Thrillers. Although we're not able replicate the styles of both genres, some elements could find their way into our movie; such as locations and some conventions come to that particular genre of films.
